  • Assist in establishing and achieving green building objectives by evaluating current design/building practices; developing recommendations for enhancing performance based on organizational priorities, cost implications, and location-specific opportunities; and providing training and other resources needed to accomplish objectives.

  • If a LEED rating is desired, assess the feasibility of pursuing LEED certification and estimate the likely score and award level.

  • Review preliminary architectural plans and other relevant documents. Identify the green building design and construction measures that are and are not reflected in the documents.

  • Enumerate the added green building design and/or construction measures that would need to be incorporated in the project in order to achieve the desired level of green performance and/or LEED certification.

  • Assist in analyzing financial impacts of green building/LEED certification. Compile and summarize cost data researched and provided by key staff and consultants.

  • Define skill sets needed to effectively execute the recommended set of green building measures/LEED credits. If needed, provide referrals to prospective consultants to address identified needs.

  • Identify types of support (training, demonstrations, documentation, additional consultation, etc.) required by existing project contractors, subs, and consultants for the successful implementation of green building measures/LEED certification. Identify potential sources of the types of support required.

  • Assist in identifying any resources (e.g., utility incentive programs) that may be available to support the project.

  • Plan and conduct a two-day design integration charrette (workshop) with all key project participants to facilitate inclusion of green design measures in the most cost-effective manner possible. Capitalizing on potential design synergies requires early collaboration among all key project team members.

  • Review construction documents (drawings, specifications, scopes of work, Title 24 documentation, etc.) to ensure inclusion of information needed for successful implementation of green building measures.

  • Plan and conduct briefings, as needed, with contractors, subs, and consultants, to familiarize them with green building and LEED compliance requirements.

  • Assist project team in drafting and assembling required LEED compliance documentation.
